El arte de pertenecer
Sofía Basto Riousse pinta, borda e ilustra, a veces todo al mismo tiempo. Cambió su carrera en el derecho por una práctica en las artes, y su trabajo cobra vida desde el rincón de Dubái que ha bautizado como Manigua Studio. Manigua, en alusión a los paisajes enmarañados y fangosos de su natal Colombia, es el proyecto vivo y palpitante a través del cual Sofía se fusiona con el verdor y observa a la gente entre el río Magdalena, Francia, Singapur y el Golfo. Antes muralista y aficionada a la caligrafía, hoy Sofía (y Manigua) crea con la naturaleza como su recurso más fiel, ya sea para obtener pigmentos, construir composiciones o dar forma a una nostalgia anidada entre los Andes y el Amazonas.
Sofía Basto Riousse ha expuesto su obra en Dubái, Pitalito, Ras Al Khaimah, Madrid, Luxemburgo y en línea. Su café diario es negro, y sus jardines siempre están llenos de color.

descriptions in José Eustasio Rivera’s masterpiece, La
Vorágine.This exhibition was held as part of the centenary
celebration of this literary work. The series evokes an
ecosystemic journey through the tropical regions mentioned in
the book, serving as a pictorial translation of nature’s force
as interpreted by the artist from the text.
